Overview
Cozumel, an island located off the coast of the Yucatán Peninsula, is a fantastic destination for birdwatching. Its unique and diverse ecosystem, a blend of mangrove forests, tropical forests, wetlands, and coastal areas support a rich variety of bird species, including endemic one such as the Cozumel Vireo and Cozumel Emerald. Additionally, the island is a stopover for many migratory birds, making it a great birdwatching destination year-round. Cozumel is a birdwatcher's paradise, offering unique experiences and the chance to see species you won’t find anywhere else. We will visit some of the prime birding locations where you can spot both resident and migratory species to include San Gervasio archaeological site, El Cedral and Punta Sur Eco Beach Park. Cozumel is committed to preserving its natural heritage, with ongoing conservation efforts aimed at protecting the island’s unique bird species and their habitats.

About your host
Mexico Kan ToursSustainability is important to us. We have a zero waste programme: we do not use plastics in our tours - instead, we use refillable water bottles and bring homemade snacks in Tupperware boxes. We also have a recycling and composting programme. We select small, locally owned providers (Cenotes, Sian Kaan, food, restaurants, accommodation) to support local communities, and our team participates in beach/town clean-ups each year We financially support local organisations such as Movida Maya (empowering Mayan kids), Alma Animal (shelter for cats and dogs) and a local kids’ football team (Titanes).
For every trip booked, Kodama Travel donates £1 to Just One Tree to restore our forests and the ocean.
