Overview
This long discovery journey reveals Borneo from many different angles: through the kitchen, along rainforest rivers, deep inside wildlife reserves, and finally on a peaceful tropical island. It begins in Kuching, where you get to know Sarawak through its flavours—shopping for spices, learning local cooking traditions, and tasting the unique ingredients that have shaped Borneo cuisine for generations. From the coast, you move into the rainforest, exploring Bako National Park, one of the best places in Borneo to spot wildlife in a natural setting. Here, proboscis monkeys, macaques, wild boar and tropical birds thrive among mangroves, cliff forests and wide coastal coves. Travelling upriver later into the interior, you’ll stay with the Iban community at Batang Ai to experience longhouse culture, river life and pristine rainforest landscapes. In Sabah, the focus turns to conservation and wildlife encounters. Sepilok, Kinabatangan, Abai, and Tabin offer extraordinary opportunities to observe orangutans, sun bears, proboscis monkeys, hornbills, crocodiles, and pygmy elephants. River cruises, forest walks, night safaris and remote lodges bring you close to Borneo’s rare ecological world while supporting important conservation efforts. Your journey concludes on Gaya Island, where rainforest meets coral seas. After days spent in jungles and rivers, this final stop offers time to slow down—snorkelling, relaxing by the water, and simply enjoying island life.
