Overview

One of the best wrecks in the Atlantic. The Corveta Afonso Cerqueira was a Portuguese Navy warship that was sunk for scuba diving on 4 Sept 2018 south of Cabo Girão off the island of Madeira. The ship forms an artificial barrier home to various marine animals. The Corvette is 85m long and is still in excellent condition. It is possible to visit both the external part of the wreck (where most of the marine life is found) and the engine room and other internal areas. The average depth is 15-20 m.
