Overview
On this tour, you can look forward to an exhilarating adventure along the North Coast to Nordeste, known as the "10th island" due to its seclusion and distinctive appeal. You'll explore the breathtaking landscapes of São Miguel, the oldest geological area of the island, filled with majestic mountains, lush forests, and stunning waterfalls. As the journey unfolds, you'll be treated to remarkable viewpoints (belvederes) that offer sweeping vistas of the sea, along with opportunities to visit charming villages adorned with vibrant flowers. After enjoying a delicious lunch at a local restaurant in the parish of "Achadinha", the tour will continue to a historic 16th-century natural park, where you'll discover ancient watermills and cascading waterfalls. The exploration of the eastern part of the island leads to the historic village of Povoação, the site where São Miguel's first settlers arrived. To conclude the day, a stop at the "Salto do Cavalo" belvedere will provide a stunning perspective of the area, perfect for capturing unforgettable views and appreciating the beauty of this remarkable region.
What you will be doing
Embark on an exciting journey along the North Coast to Nordeste, often referred to as the 10th island for its remoteness and unique charm. As the oldest geological area of São Miguel, this region is adorned with stunning mountains, lush woodlands, and breathtaking waterfalls. Along the way, you will encounter picturesque belvederes that overlook the sea, quaint villages, and an array of vibrant flowers.
At a local restaurant in the parish of Achadinha
The Park is full of old watermills and waterfalls. We will continue our exploration of the eastern part of the island, leading us to the historic village of Povoação, where the first settlers first set foot on São Miguel.
To cap off the day, we will make a stop at the Salto do Cavalo belvedere, a perfect vantage point to take in the stunning views and capture the beauty of this remarkable region.
