Overview
Sólheimajökull, an outlet glacier of Mýrdalsjökull, offers the perfect setting for an unforgettable adventure. Surrounded by Iceland’s most iconic volcanoes, the glacier reveals breathtaking landscapes, dramatic ice formations, and a newly formed ice cave waiting to be explored. Meet your guide at the Sólheimajökull parking lot, gear up with crampons, a helmet, and an ice axe, and step onto the ice. Hike across ridges, crevasses, and a glacier lagoon while learning how these features are shaped. Then venture into the glacier’s ice cave—an ever-changing world of vivid blue ice and natural wonder. This tour combines the thrill of hiking on a glacier with the rare opportunity to explore inside it.
