Overview
Located in a spectacular rainforest and over 70 meters high, La Fortuna River Waterfall is an attraction hard to miss. This waterfall shares its territory with the Arenal-Monteverde protected area, hosting a large amount of wildlife, forests, and aquifers. The entrance fees are used by an NGO to promote the well-being and development of the community.
What you will be doing
We have the option of observing the beautiful waterfall from the viewpoint or through a 300-meter walk down on 530 steps with comfortable rest areas. Along the way, your guide will accompany you, describing interesting geological aspects of the rock formations and the history of the high basalt columns that gave rise to this waterfall. The trail ends right in front of the imposing waterfall, with ideal spots for amazing photographs.

About your host
Jacamar Naturalist ToursWe started operations in 1996, in La Fortuna and San Carlos, and was a pioneer in the tourist development of the area, offering some of the first walks to the Arenal Volcano in an organised way. The experience gained through these years allows Jacamar Naturalist Tours to integrate and train some of the best naturalist guides in the country and explore the best tourist destinations with them. As we mature and expand, we maintained the same philosophy of sustainable tourism in each destination, always making a concerted effort to promote the conservation of nature and culture.
For every trip booked, Kodama Travel donates £1 to Just One Tree to restore our forests and the ocean.
