Where scent meets sea, and Iceland tells its story. Step into the world of Ilmur & Sjór, where wild botanicals, windswept coastlines, and volcanic soil speak through scent. Founded in the winter of 2023 by composer and scent alchemist Nicholas Brittain Shaber, this workshop is your invitation to explore Iceland through its most intimate expression: fragrance. In this playful, hands-on session, you’ll discover the secrets of Icelandic perfumery—from the mossy highlands to smoky birch, arctic herbs, and mineral-rich earth. You’ll learn the art of blending and balance, and then craft your very own bespoke parfum, using native ingredients sourced from Iceland’s raw and beautiful landscape.
What you will be doing
You will have access to a selection of rare Icelandic ingredients and essential oils. From Lava Fields to Flowers, you’ll learn about the Scents of Iceland.
Learn how top, heart, and base Icelandic notes interact.
You will also receive a travel-sized perfume (10ml) from Ilmur & Sjór’s signature collection.

Ilmur & SjórIlmur & Sjór (Fragrance & Sea) was created in the winter of 2023 by composer and commercial fisherman Nicholas Brittain Shaber. An obsession with natural fragrances blossomed into creation during a period of intense inspiration from the nature of Iceland. Four fragrances were created over the next several months and the company was created to showcase the work.
