Overview
Discover the mysterious life of nocturnal animals! Join us for this adventure as we learn about the incredible adaptations of these creatures in a lightless world. Glossophagian or nectar-eating bats use their echolocation system to search for flowers with nectar even in the absence of light. Some flowers only open their petals at night, with the bat being its most important pollinator. This symbiotic reproduction-food relationship is part of the magic that can be observed at night.
What you will be doing
Glossophagian or nectar-eating bats use their echolocation system to search for flowers with nectar even in the absence of light. Some flowers only open their petals at night, with the bat being its most important pollinator. This example of a symbiotic reproduction-food relationship is part of the magic that can be observed on a night tour. Like the bat, much of the biodiversity of the rainforest has nocturnal habits. Their adaptations have allowed them to survive in a world without light, obtaining advantages over their competition for food-gathering, and protecting them from their light-dependent predators. Frogs with charming sounds and colours, sloths, insects, and even snakes can be enjoyed at this wonderful rainforest night party.

About your host
Jacamar Naturalist ToursWe started operations in 1996, in La Fortuna and San Carlos, and was a pioneer in the tourist development of the area, offering some of the first walks to the Arenal Volcano in an organised way. The experience gained through these years allows Jacamar Naturalist Tours to integrate and train some of the best naturalist guides in the country and explore the best tourist destinations with them. As we mature and expand, we maintained the same philosophy of sustainable tourism in each destination, always making a concerted effort to promote the conservation of nature and culture.
For every trip booked, Kodama Travel donates £1 to Just One Tree to restore our forests and the ocean.
