Overview
Sake breweries are scattered in the Nada area, known as one of the best sake breweries in Japan. Nada's sake brewing has been active since the Edo period and accounts for c.30% of Japan's sake production today. The location, climate, rice quality, and water are perfect for brewing sake, and the craftsmanship has been handed down from generation to generation with its techniques. This tour will introduce you to sake brewing and the food culture of using sake.
What you will be doing
This is a museum that was built in the early Taisho era. The museum showcases the traditional sake-brewing process and operations, allowing visitors to learn about the brewing process and view the historic architecture. You can also enjoy sake tasting.
This is a sake brewery that has been in business for 250 years, since the Edo period. The brewery produces Fukuju, which is drunk at Nobel Prize dinners and is highly regarded both in Japan and abroad. Find your favourite flavour at the tasting corner and make it your souvenir.
Specialising in pickles and Mirin (sweet cooking rice wine). Mirin is made from the same raw materials as sake and is an essential part of Japanese cuisine. By learning about the similarities and differences between sake and Mirin, you can learn more about Japanese food and sake.
An arcade shopping street with about 500 stores. It is a local district closely connected to people's daily lives, where you can experience and enjoy the Japanese daily lives. You will be able to feel the warmth of the local atmosphere that you cannot experience in large modern shopping malls.
