Overview
Join us on August 12, 2026, for a once-in-a-lifetime journey to witness the total solar eclipse. Travel in a comfortable mini bus with a small group of fellow enthusiasts as we set out to find the perfect viewing spot. With large windows for sightseeing, you’ll enjoy dramatic Icelandic landscapes on the way. Our expert guides will monitor the weather and clouds to ensure the best experience, leading you to a secluded location for this extraordinary celestial event.
What you will be doing
We start the day with pick-up in Reykjavík before heading out in our specially modified Super Jeeps. These vehicles are designed for adventure and will take us off the beaten track toward remote areas in the eclipse’s path of totality. Along the way, enjoy views of Iceland’s dramatic mountains, lava fields, and rugged coastlines.
Our guides will track weather and cloud conditions throughout the journey, keeping the plan flexible to ensure the best possible viewing location. While driving, there will be opportunities to take in Iceland’s stunning natural scenery, making the journey itself a highlight of the day.
Once we’ve reached the ideal spot, you’ll have time to settle in, set up your camera or binoculars, enjoy your packed food, and prepare for the celestial event. This is the moment to relax and feel the anticipation grow as the eclipse approaches.
Partial Eclipse begins at 16:44, and totality begins at 17:45. Maximum Eclipse is forecasted to be at 17:46, whilst totality ends at 17:47. Partial Eclipse ends at 18:46. As the moon fully covers the sun, the sky will fall into an eerie twilight. Darkness, silence, and awe will take over before cheers and camera clicks break the spell. It’s a short but unforgettable few minutes that will stay with you forever.
After the eclipse, we’ll take time to enjoy the atmosphere, share stories, and have a drink with fellow travellers before heading back toward Reykjavík. The drive home will be filled with reflections on the extraordinary day, returning to the city by late evening.
