But as you continue, the scenery transforms—lush cloud forests emerge, wrapped in mist and teeming with life. The humidity creates the perfect conditions for orchids and bromeliads to flourish, decorating the treetops in an explosion of colour.

Crossing La Línea, the natural border between Quindío and Tolima, the altitude climbs, offering sweeping views of the Andean mountains. The trail leads to Las Cruces, a traditional peasant farm where you can witness the rural way of life that has persisted for generations. Eventually, you’ll arrive at La Carbonera, a breathtaking expanse of 900 hectares of protected forest—home to over 600,000 adult Wax Palms, a staggering number compared to the small clusters found in Cocora.
